You will be surprised to notice how much of time and money you will save when you plan your next holiday destination with kids. Find out what your kids are really interested in. Consult with them on where they really want to go and what they want to see. For example; if your boy is scared of water and does not like swimming, why take him to a water theme park? Look out for some special deals or promotions available in the destination well in advance. Leisure establishments these days are keen to promote their products and services online to families. Hence, there is good chance of getting a wonderful discount online when you plan things ahead rather than buying something at the counter last minute. Make use of family targeted discounts and promotions in order save money on holidays; for example, I bought an annual membership at Zoos Victoria for 90$ for an adult which gives me unlimited entry into 3 Victorian state Zoos for a full complete year, if I instead had to buy a ticket, it would cost me 32$ each time.

When we book a room for holidays, we always prefer a room with kitchen and refrigerator in the room. The reason being we don’t like to eat outside all the time when we are on holiday. Since we are predominantly rice eaters, we don’t forget to carry a rice cooker with us when we go on holidays. Remember if you can manage with home food for lunch or dinner, you can save a minimum of $50 for a family of 3 people. Many hotels offer free breakfast when you book a room, this is very good way to save on breakfast expenses. Quite often you would find that the restaurants within the hotel charge a premium for dining in. So go outside the hotel and explore what options are available. You may end up finding a delicious take way for half the money you may have spent in the fine dining restaurant. These are some excellent options to save on holidays. On my recent trip, we found a delicious noodle place way better than the in-house restaurants. Hence, the effort put in driving thru the surroundings for dining options pays!


Pack some food for your family:

It is always a very good idea to pack something for the kids and adults while traveling on a  Save money on holidays holiday. Not everywhere you could find a restaurant when you are hungry. Keeping sandwiches or a fruit snack packed in your bag always helps you to deal with your hunger and stops you from buying at the fast food joints. Try to avoid traveling during peak season:

Most of the family holidays are taken during the school holidays. Airlines tend to price their tickets competitively outside of the holiday season. So there is quite a good chance of finding a nice deal if you can afford travel during this period.

Remember to pack that toy which is your kid’s favorite so you don’t end up buying a similar one on your holiday.
